What is a conversation starter? Recorded videos to get your students talking and thinking critically! When the Canadian Team was in Japan for the 1978 International Field Hockey Match, the organizers would not speak to Hall of Famer Marina van der Merwe as a female coach, only communicating organizational matters to the team's "male" physician and the "male" interpreter. After Team Canada solidly won both matches and the organizers realized she was the coach in charge, they deemed her a warrior and presented her with this Japanese Samurai (warrior) Helmet.

Track Cycling
Track cycling is a bicycle race held on specially built tracks called Velodromes. Athletes use specially built bicycles to race around the track at speeds up to 70 km/h.

Katelyn achieved a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria in 2009 and a Master of Museum Studies from the University of Toronto in 2016. Despite running the Education Department at Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame for many years, Katelyn still can’t hit a golf ball. When she’s not working with Hall of Famers and teaching youth life lessons through sport, she strives to be better at golf so her enthusiastic volunteers stop making fun of her.
