Frequently Asked Questions

What are the technical requirements for your virtual programs?

Reliable internet connection that allows you to connect externally from your school or from home; Computer, projector, or screen so your class can see the presentation; Webcam (or other computer-based camera) so the presenter can see your class;  Speakers and Microphone;  Zoom (web browser is sufficient - you do NOT need to download the app)

What are the program requirements?

Artefact Talks & Hall of Famers on Tour

It is a requirement of the program that CSHoF facilitators are able to see and hear the majority of the students, and that cameras and audio are turned on throughout the program. When possible, our preference is to have students connect to the Zoom link from individual laptops/tablets with individual earphones as it creates the best engagement experience. In situations where students must connect from one computer in a classroom environment, we ask that teachers repeat answers from students at the back of the class to mitigate volume issues. Please do not have your students walk to the computer/smartboard as we have found that this is not time efficient and often results in the omission of program content. Teachers are expected to monitor their students’ behaviour.

Hall of Famers on Tour
In order to create a meaningful discussion with the Hall of Famer, it is a requirement of the program that teachers work with their students in advance of the presentation to create questions to ask the Hall of Famer. Pre-visit activities by grade are available to help your students create meaningful questions!

Do you offer connection tests?

A CSHoF technology representative will contact you to arrange a connection test a couple of days before your scheduled program. It should only take fifteen minutes or less. A tech representative will also be available to help you resolve any technical issues leading up to or during the program.

How long are your programs?

Artefact Talks and Hall of Famers on Tour programs both last approximately 1 hour. Artefact Talks can be shortened to fit a 45-minute class period by requesting this in advance of your scheduled program date.
